They use to be a good company, but since I left 4 years ago, WOW this has ended up being the worst, I came back for less than 1 month, but after being back for 1 week , I knew I wasn’t staying, and got another job, the trucks are junk and you are just a number to them, the harassment that you have to deal with is unbelievable....

Five years here as O/O. Run PODS, the best kept secret in trucking. $2,500+ weekly net. They leave me alone, but I don't need advice, either. I love it at Blackhawk!

Pros

VP of Dedicated is an honest straight shooter.

Cons

Any trucking company has cons. It's difficult to find any serious ones here.

This company lied about potential of income. They don't communicate well with each other in management and dispatch. The drivers are great and you will put in 6 days and almost 70 hrs..

I was on a dedicated acct. in FL and the Acct. Manager was horrible. He was angry, would lie, had favorites, and he didn’t always know what was going on. He wrote Drivers up and suspended Drivers for going over a time limit- even though Drivers are paid by the trip- NOT by the hr.( see the Cons below ).He had no appreciation or respect for Drivers that did do things that other Drivers neglected to do. He forced Drivers to run a road race on every trip because of this very tight time constraint that he instituted. He lost 3 Drivers who quit ( out of about 20 ) in 3 wks. in Nov. 2018 . Drivers were wanted to work 6 days or nights per week and barely get 34 hrs off for a reset. Some nights they wanted a Driver to run 2 complete round trips and unload both loads, this would be about 700 miles of driving- using all of your 12 hrs of driving and 16 hrs of work time ( FL laws ) and be extremely tired- but get 10 hrs off to get to work again. The trucks needed maintenance and repairs, but air leaks and inoperable cruise control and other things were never fixed. They had speed tracking , they knew the speed limit on every section of road and street. If a Driver went 10 mph over any speed limit, Drivers received company speeding tickets and eventually write ups. Many trucks had inoperable cruise control so Drivers were always watching their speedometers on secondary roads to avoid company speeding tickets and write ups, but it’s not safe watching your speedometer all the time. On the one hand, he wanted trips completed very quickly, but would write you up if you went too fast !

Pros

Cons

Time limit but pd. by the trip, no extra pay for delays or detours, write Drivers up if they went over the time limit - even though it was caused by traffic, slow vehicles on dozens of miles of secondary roads, waiting to get loaded or unloaded, a required bathroom stop, or if you took the time to clean the glass, mirrors, fill the DEF &windshield washer reservoir, or add air to tires that are low for safety purposes, the boss had no appreciation for a Driver doing these extra things - he was on

Excellent company to work for if you're responsible and reliable. They'll run you if you're willing to run. Never had any issues with anyone in the office or shop. Wish I found this place sooner than 2 1/2 years ago. I love it here!
