Not the same company it use to be they have changed so much the past 2 years. They are starting to act like a mega carrier and the drivers are coming unglued. Alot of drivers say the company is trying to flush out the older drivers to pave the way for cheaper student drivers. Now we have way too many drivers and not enough freight to go around for everyone and the drivers are now complaining about sitting too much not making money. Here are the recent changes that have all the drivers up in arms and quitting. 1. They dropped the 2 year experience and have broght in students and trainers. 2. They partnered with 2 very large truck driving schools to keep a steady flow. 3. Installed cameras in all the trucks and started the micromanaging "coaching" that comes along with it. 4. Implemented a fuel solutions program that dictates your route and all specific fuel stops. 5. Stripping down the trucks to save money like of all things the seats where we spent about 70% of our day these cheap seats are so uncomfortable and start leaning to one side after a while your sore after sitting in them for a few hours.

Equipment is good.The pay sucks.If you dont have hrs to do a run and they have to get someone else,dispatch will blame you. Dispatch doesn't like doing 34hr restarts.The miles also suck.The load aren't to bad but you cant get them they're on time.The reason is Dispatch doesn't know how to Dispatch.

I started here with DHT in early 2018 and I loved it! Started at 37 cpm but they ran the wheels off my truck. I was getting 3500-4000 miles a week always got the 11,000 mile bonus and was bringing In 1500-2000$ a week. Plenty of freight going from Ohio to California and dispatch always kept me moving and on top of delivery times to make sure I wasn’t sitting around on a load. But recently things have have way down hill. Freight is slim here right now. They have stopped buying decently spec’d trucks and trailers they now buy base model t680s steel drives and cheap interior with very uncomfortable seats. Also they tried swapping to spring ride trailers which were Wasbash and pulled and rode like a log wagon on a dirt road. Luckily they “said they won’t buy anymore”. They have hired a bunch of new young people on dispatch who don’t have a clue how to keep a truck moving and will stick you on a 700 mile load that doesn’t deliver for 3-5 days. Teams have become a top priority they seem to get plenty of miles while solo drivers get the half way run loads the teams drop off and we have to take them the last 500-600 miles. If you do happen to get a load heading far out west bet ready to sit and wait for something coming back out. Freight is dead near California and Arizona and have talked to drivers who have waited 3-4 days before even getting a call. My checks have plummeted to 500-600$ a week which is a joke. I haven’t even come close to the mileage bonus. I have always ran super hard and never complained about anything but this company is not what it was when I started here and it’s honestly sad because I loved this company and planned to retire here but I can’t keep up with my bills at 500-600$ a week. I’ve had to pull my cash advance 5 weeks in a row just to stay afloat. I’ve talked to driver services about the mileage issue and nothing has changed. This has been getting worse each week and it doesn’t seem to be better any time soon. This will more then likely be my last week with DHT.

Cheap specd base model trucks. Low mileage pay. Not much room for advancement. Lack of trained dispatch especially night shift. Low miles “now” and few long runs. To many teams eating up all the good miles.

They lease 2nd rate kenworth trucks from kenworth.. they dangle that bonus like a carrot and cut you just short of earning it each month... they will lie every single chance they get... dispatch are big bullies... they love to micromanage you... be prepared to not get showers on regular basis or eat meals on regular basis (they wouldn't let us do but one or the other in one day) ... the mechanics are not the best... they don't truly fix the trucks, they just put bandaid on them... one of the guys who answers on night/weekend breakdown line is hateful and likes to bully women... only one guy in dispatch was any good and he was on nights and weekends when we were there... the rest you had to think for them cause they couldn't think for themselves to figure anything out... the list keeps on going.... we were there for 4 years... soooo glad we left... now we make better pay and the company we work for now treats all drivers like the professionals we are

Looking back, there really never were any pros, except for the times we were sick, they didn't bellyache about we needed to get back to work

Good company and dispatch. Alot of freight ftom the border. Plenty of miles. Home every 5 to 6 weeks. All new equipment.

Pros

Good running lanes. no forced dispatch.

Swapping loads in the middle of a run.

Not a recruiter at all. I'm a driver. At none there is no better company.

I take home average $1200 a week. The miles are there and the money is there.

The company doesn't acres around on fixing anything. My radio started screwing up and called maintance and one is waiting at the yard when I get through tobswap out.

I come home for two days, the head tech will tell me he looked over my truck. Two months ago he said he threw new steers as they had a bit of inside wear and had it aligned. Never mentioned a thing about it.

If you have a crappy company... Leave. DHT is without a doubt the best... Hell, if you do break down on the road they will pay you 500 miles. Day down time. No one does that

Danny Herman Trucking?

I am at orientation at this time and they seem to be a very good company. I got one more day of orientation and suppose to get my truck and get my load assignment Thursday morning. No northeast and no northwest runs at all which is fine by me. They told me at orientation that their average runs are 1400 miles and there is plenty of freight to keep drivers moving. That's all I got at this time.

Back home for three days after being out for two weeks, so far Danny Herman Trucking has treated me very well. I was in Calexico CA. on Thursday and they knew I ask to be home on the weekend, dispatcher work very hard to find me a load to Augusta GA. and they indeed did just that and gave me a load over 2000 miles (solo driver) that was a drop and hook with a open window and I got home late Sunday evening with a huge paycheck coming next Friday including the two previous other loads that total 2000 miles. The dispatchers and support staff are awesome and do what ever to meet the driver needs. Best company I have work for including Prime, Marten, and Arnold, these companies treat you like your not a person and most of their dispatcher just don't care about the driver as a person.

Danny Herman Trucking Journey

I have been with DHT for over a year. I go out 12 days and home 2-3 days. Base pay starts at 34 cents a mile. However, if you don't like to run hard, this is not the company for you. We ONLY do long haul and we do not put our loads on the train. The driver pulls all loads. Not a locomotive. Average length of haul is 1400 miles, but you will mostly run longer hauls than that. So, if you don't like to run hard, this is not where you want to be. I will say this, you won't find a better company out there. At least here, even though the trucks only go 67 mph, they are mostly BIG trucks and the miles are the best you will ever get. Better than that, the people in dispatch and other support depts are very respectful. I couldn't ask for better
