I have been at FA for about 18 months. I work in the LTL division. The negative things that I could say about this company are so minuscule that they are not even really worth mentioning. If you want to work, they have the freight but is you want to sit and ##### about every little thing then this company probably is not for you. Personally I am a money hungry driver and my pay checks reflect that.

Pros

Too many pros to list for this company.

Cons

I dont really have any Cons to list for this company.

Everything is a lie! Do not believe the orientation. U do not get 2g after taxes a week. U do not make .94cent a mile. Do not work here as a company driver! U don't get pay layover like they told u at orientation, u do not get to pick your loads, east coast Disbatch are rude (most of them) and home time is a joke! Out 5weeks and only home for a weekend and then get screwed over for going home. DO NOT believe ppl at orientation $400,000 a yr is fake. .94cent is fake, 175$ layover per driver is fake. It is all fake! U can not make a living here!! No ride alongs, even if it tells u in the handbook. And after a YR of working u only get a penny raise. When they told u at orientation u will get .25cents. The worst company to work for ever!

Pros

West coast disbatch are the greatest. That is the only pros I have to say

The only reason for the 1 star overall is because of my new equipment. I leased on with this company expecting too much I suppose. Don't trust recruiters. I was supposed to run out of Atlanta, but ran out of Columbus, OH. Had to drive over 800 miles empty when I wanted home time at my expense. I, unfortunately, believe most of what I'm told. My 1st week I was surprised to have gotten over 4,000 miles thinking they aren't too bad. Then everything went down hill from there. Im talking 1,400 miles in a week and sitting 2-3 days in between loads of 300-400 miles. Dispatchers, like most other companies, lie, lie and lie some more. "We don't have any loads." Bullshit! When you're sitting at any one of their terminals and you see 40, 50 or even 60 trucks come in and leave with freight after your break is over and you sit, sit and sit some more. They say it's not forced dispatch, but if you refuse a load, you will sit even longer. It is take the load they give you, usually less than 400 miles, or sit and be ignored. They have terminals all over, but refused to give me freight other than the Northeast. This is the sorriest excuse for an owner operator company I've ever seen. Couldn't even pay my truck note with these people. Never again!

Pros

Perfect place if you want less than 1,500 miles per week.

Cons

Dispatchers lie and don't care if you have bills to pay. Perfect place if you want less than 1,500 miles per week.

You do not want to be a company driver with Forward Air, inc. They are primarily a Owner/Operator company, and the company drivers get the loads that the O/O's do not want. As team drivers we only got about 4000 miles per week average. A lot of sitting between loads, and a lot of short haul loads, especially on the east coast and north-east. The 5800 miles per week advertised was a lie. The terminal to terminal drop and hook was ok, but we almost always had to wait 12 to 40 hours before getting our next load. And, only a few of the terminals had decent facilities for showers and driver's lounge. Then, we were getting stuck with airport to airport pick-up and deliveries. The trucks were new Ryder rentals, so they were good. But, the trailers usually had something wrong with them that the previous drivers would leave for the next drivers.

Pros

Home time was good, four days for every 16 days out. Or, five days for twenty days out.

Cons

Way too much time sitting and waiting for loads, too many short haul loads, not enough miles per week.

A friend of mine just walked away from a lease purchase with them 2 weeks ago. Not enough miles, not enough money. He's back to flatbed now.

Mileage company, pulling company trailers, drop N hook from terminal to terminal, mostly teams, if you run solo you'll be driving at night most of the time, at least I did(air freight) They're on elogs now. 0.93 plus FS. Got tired of being gone for 3-4 weeks and left them. Midwest is good area to run for FAF for solo.
