Pros
There are no good things to say about Heniff. I'm a fair and honest person, I admit when I'm wrong and give acknowledgement when it's due. But I can't see one reason that you'd want to work here.
Cons
Low pay for what the job entails, trash equipment, no respect to the driver. This place is terrible times ten.

Keep in mind that this is merely the starting rate of pay for a driver at or just over the minimum hiring requirements. If you have a great deal of tank experience, then there is a very good chance of starting at a slightly higher % and hourly/flat rate amount.
Now onto one the couple of negatives here concerning the pay; when you pick up a tank that was pre-loaded by another driver, you get $25 deducted from that trip.
Also, there is no tank wash pay, as you will predominantly drop your dirty tank at the tank wash/yard and simply hook to a clean one.
Y'all be safe, more later...

Started with these guys 1 month ago and really happy so far.
Originally was going for regional work until I found out how well local work pays.
Did 3 days of orientation in Joliet,Il. was supposed to be 4 days but small class(3) drivers. One from louisiana doing a lease purchase and another from Michigan doing otr. Orientation pay is 19hr x 8.
Approx 300 trucks O/O Included and approx 600 tanks and all in exel. shape.
Have our own tank washes in Alsip and Joliet, Not sure about the other 7 terminals
We get 7 paid holidays with one of them being the fri after thanksgiving
Not quite sure how the vacation works, but I do know you get 1 vac. day for every month worked, So in 6 mo. I can take 6 days or 12 mo. 12 days. Not sure how it works after 2-3-4 yrs.
Starting Pay for OTR/Regional is 26% not sure where it tops out at.
Starting pay for local is 19hr. with ot after 8. Also not sure where it tops out at.
Ins. BCBS. with dental and vision, I'm on my wifes plan so dont know the numbers on those, Free 25,000 life ins.
401K w/co. match.
I pretty much have 5am starts and work 10-12 hrs a day. average 55-60 hrs. Got 65 hrs this week but offered to work on Sat.
usually pick up and deliver a load in the am and do preloads for road drivers in the afternoon.
We also do a lot of ISO Tanks(intermodal) We have about 70 of our own chassis all pretty new.
Another big Plus is a 5 min. drive to work.
And on my 2 day ride along with a trainer its turns out that he lives right down on the next the block from me and has been there 12 yrs.

Another week in and I'm loving this job, Got paid for 2 holidays thanksgiving and the fri after even though I was short a week of qualifying for them.
Pretty much getting 5am starts and getting 10-12 hr days, but had to use my 16hr rule this week due to Dow chemicals anybody whos been to Dow in Bedford park will know what I'm talking about.
I have worked every Sat. since starting( my choice) just cant turn down the ot money this time of year.
Everything here is relaxed nobodys breathing down your back calling wondering whats taking so long.
I'd say 75% of the loads i do are hazmat.

Don't work for this company unless you have deep pockets. You will go broke. I use to work for them out of the chicago area. Not a good company to work for by far. They charge you the owner operator $90 plus some of your fuel surcharge if they preload your load for you, and they will preload your load for you about 95% of the time. They also charge you $200 plus some of your fuel surcharge if you bring in a light oil load, which you wouldn't be able to off load yourself unless they get you trained to off load it which they never will. Everyday, there are at least 5 to 8 light oil trailers dropped in the yard by owner operators. That's $200 a pop Heniff gets for delivering them for you. They also have some loads that pay no fuel surcharge. They pay every friday and your check will be messed up every week. They even charge their company drivers some of their pay if another company driver loads that driver trailer. This company is a scam. I still have all my pay studs to back all of what I am saying up.

Im not sure what the person replied talking about but I worked compay and now O/O and I make more than I have ever made. I get 68% because I have air and pump. I pick up a lot of preloaded trailers and have never been charged for no preload. Also, I get very good loads. They dont take sides. I haul some of the same loads I hauled as company driver. Dispatch work with you and match you to what they know you like to haul along with what they see will get you home the way you like. If you dont want it you just say no and they immediately find you something else. I get all my surcharge and have never had a problem with pay at all. Of course I work out of the Louisiana office so it may be different from Chicago. We are like one big happy family here. We have our dispatchers cell number in addition to there office number and open to call them any time of day we like if we have a problem. I really hate to see people down a company because they had a bad experience. I have worked for some companies and had bad experiences but at end of day I moved alone to better. They are really not a bad company to work for
