They keep hiring people but have no loads is the Moto here. Have literally heard this from a few people. It’s too funny and wrong :/

Pros

Nothing is good specially the trucks.

Cons

Hope i can help you save your time and energy. Don’t go there.

Equipment was very well kept together. Hometime was kept as promised. Pay? Really ducked to be honest. I only was getting 1400 miles a week. Load is mostly drop & hooks

Pros

Hometime, drop and hooks, Walmart accounts

Cons

Pay, if its a 600miles trip, I only got paid $200

I have often thought that some of the negative reviews were just disgruntled employees. Now I know it is the truth. Ryan is a very unorganized, hateful and spiteful fleet manager. If he is your manager, double check your pay and your loads. I finally gave up and gave my notice. So glad I did.

Pros

The trucks were fairly adequate

Cons

The fleet managers , especially Ryan, will lie to you and cheat you. And yes, i can back up that statement.

I was lured in with the promise of 60cpm and a guaranteed minimum pay of $1,200/wk on a 12 and 2 schedule. What I wasn't told is that the 60cpm is a factored amount based on the measly 20cpm they ACTUALLY pay and your other modifiers. They take you stop pay and detention pay and divide it by miles driven then add that to your 20cpm to claim they pay you 60cpm. You have no direct contact with the planner who has half a brain cell to begin with and my fleet manager talks down to me like I'm a 3 year old over the smallest inconveniences. The equipment is very nice though, and Road Service is prompt at getting someone to you when you have trouble. They also claim that sign on and retention bonuses are a gimmick so don't expect any of that. It's not a horrible place to work as long as you know what you're getting into before you start

Pros

Nice Equipment, home on Friday, out on Sunday, consistent freight

Cons

Lies and bad dispatching

I got one wheel off , on a extremely narrow road, with no shoulder , or even a white line . Sand all over road , and wet. I wasnt even speeding. 1. Foot drop off into sand , made it impossible to get back up on road , and instead it pulled me off road. I was fired, even though the accident didnt even give me enough points to fire. Now, a year and a half later , ive not been able to get another job. I have applied everywhere , and three jobs did everything to make me feel i would be hired, only to suddenly turn cold to me. I have been advised that this can only mean im being blacklisted. Given a very bad reference from a man i only worked with weeks , as terminal manager. In the four years i worked out of clarksville , ar there were 3 terminal managers. Both of the first two, , told me numerous times i was one of their best drivers, coming in many times at a moments notice to cover for other drivers. This guy had no idea , only his favorites mattered at all. This isnt fair, it isnt professional, and it isnt right. I have a wife and son in the phillippines. that i love very much. I used to help support them , and now i dont know if i will ever see them again

Pros

The only pro is at first they treat you good. In fact i had decided i wanted to retire from there

Cons

Your a number. No matter what or how much you do for them they wont appreciate it.

My former trainer went over to Marten back in January and according to her she loves it. She mostly runs Southeast and manages to get home every weekend.

Marten Transport. Some of the newer Kenworth T-680s and Freightliner Cascadia Evolution models are autos, with manual models in the mix. I wanted a manual transmission in either a Freightliner or a KW after they sold the T-660 I drove but HQ said I had no choice and gave me an auto.

Q: Do they have a cap on detention?
I see some of the same drivers come in and out of our DC. I don't think they do that many outgoing, they bring more in. But I see some of them posted up there overnight sometimes.

A: The cap is 9 hours. Only a few times I've sat like that but I was paid layover with Max detention. Sat 32 hours once. Max detention and got layover x3. That was a 2320 3 stop load. $1800 run week that week all because the first stop screwed up lol.

Marten generally gets regional drivers on the west coast home for a 34 after 10 to 14 days out. Thats how it was when i was there. Not enough HT for me. If you came from a big bottom feeder then marten is better.

If it's less than 100 miles or so they pay you hourly at $20/hr or $25/hr.

Detention is $20/hr after first our for company drivers and $25/hr for O/O. Stops are $20 per stop

Q: Anyone have any info about Marten in the NW area?

A: Looks to be legit! I personalyy stopped by the terminal in Wilsonvile and chatted with a couple of the current employees and a driver. I really think running out of this terminal will be great!

Q: I'm checking this company out to see if I can get on Walmart Dedicated. I'm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but I have seen a Marten truck at the Walmart here.

Just wondered if anyone has done this dedicated run. I also wondered if I could get an automatic with Marten.

A: Yes you can just tell your recruiter YOU WANT AN AUTOMATIC! To my knowledge, all automatics are Freightliners.

What reefers does marten have on their trailers?

What reefers does marten have on their trailers?

They have both TK's and Carriers. Majority is TK, but they do have both.

Most tks are sb400 whispers though newer ones are precedents. The carriers are slowly being phased out. Only significant difference is if they run out of fuel the carriers are a little easier to bleed. They have a bleed valve. Tk you have to have a socket to crack a banjo bolt. Precedents have electric fuel pump.

Feedback on Marten Transport 2015?

Marten pays you for your time. You drive. You get paid miles. You sit, through no fault of your own, you get paid detention/layover/average-daily-pay. I know drivers that rake in $1000 a week from sitting. One of my Marten friends jokingly say "Did you get your welfare Po yet?"!!! Marten is serious about the value of a driver's time. Some dispatchers are tight-wads about it, but most follow the rules.

My friend David netted $958.50 on this check.
