If you like driving slow in a brand new neutered big rig... then you'll fit right in. Hard to sit in the driver's seat for 10 hours and watch the rest of the trucking industry go by. Be safe out there.

Pros

Nice people, good hometime... that's about it.

Cons

SLOW trucks, LOW pay, Their shops can't fix a broke truck that their resident engineer neuters so severely (software).... Kenworth can't even fix either, due to the severity of the screwed up software... NO LIE PEOPLE...

If you enjoy driving an average of 1700 miles a week due to laziness then this company is for you, but if you really love your family look elsewhere. They will constantly lie to you about loads and appointments.

Pros

Decent equipment

Cons

Lying DM’s Medical Insurance

Nice looking trucks with no power. The first thing they do if you even get a new truck is take all the power away! They say pay is up to .51 cents a mile that is not true. Everyone starts at .44 a mile then after 6 months you get 001 rase. That so called.51 is only if and I mean only if you can jump through all there hoops it supposed to be a bonus but funny know one ever see it and if you do they hit you with a 40% tax on that bonus yea. You will get a 600 mile run and it want deliver for two days and it want deliver until the end of the 2nd day yea. It will take you 7 days just to get 2100 miles that week. If you even see that much. The safety women there and her so called staff are very immature. This company has a very bad rating. Get ready to be broke living in a truck that you can’t idol with a very weak APU that won’t keep your truck cool in the summertime. Sitting in a truck stop parking lot. You have been worried

Pros

I really can’t thank of any other the asking for a advancement just to eat for the week

Cons

2019 real pay is not the miss leading 51 that they promise, it more like .44 with no miles

I came back they didnt give me .50 a mile to start, this coming december will be my 17th year in this industry, so for 16 years experience they would only hire me back if i accepted a penny less a mile and i was with this company a year before at .45 a mile, i quit cause i couldn't ever get over 2200 to 2300 miles a week most weeks were as low as 1200 for the week i quit cause no matter how much i begged for a better dispatcher management would never do a thing about it,second time back started off with a great dispatcher never kept waiting on questions gave me decent miles then he got married, quit, moved up north, i ended up with another dispatcher, never ended up late on a load never refused a load and my miles drastically dropped this is what happens when you stand up for yourself in a nice professional manner to get your miles picked up,got a dispatcher highly recommended by upper management, right from the get go, took forever to answer your blue messages, ended up to pick up a load sat there 10 hours in between that time i sent 3 different messages, not being loaded still in dock please advise,no reply till the tenth hour came around found out load was cancelled nobody on company side bothered to find out anything in all that time i sat there docked wandering if i would ever get loaded, when i went to the guard shack to ask about load i was told load cancelled please leave the property, i informed dispatch what i was told to do he insisted i keep trying to get the load i got so aggrevated with the situation over a load that just wasnt availible to get that i was forced to call over my dispatchers head to get him off my case on a load he dropped the ball on,after that incident my miles again dropped back to 1500 a week, so unless your willing to kiss your dispatcher where the sun dont shine and put up with poor message time response and poor planning an poor management, along getting starved an crapped on well then hey, this is just what your looking for if you can afford to run and be treated like a broke homeless person, knock yourself out, cause im getting out asap and finding a better company.

Pros

When you find some let me know !!!

Cons

My orientation had about 25 people and they have one every week, and there are maybe a little over 500 trucks so draw your own conclusions

Stay clear of National Carriers, during orientation 11 out of 14 drivers left before completion. I was one of the committed after 4 days of waiting for a working truck I was on the road with a shaker the truck was a mess. To add insult to predicament I try weighing the truck after picking a load oh no their fuel card id not honored at Love's I try calling dispatch, no body home. I brought the shaking truck back to their terminal and resigned. They have the odesity to blemish my Dac report by saying I was not their kind of people, instead of saying he quit do to our broken truck and bad credit (their card was not honored). Slime of a company.

ANY NEW 2016 INFORMATION ON NATIONAL CARRIERS

Tried to find some info on National Carriers. Have to dig for it though. Seems like an excellent carrier if you can make it through orientation. Orientation is thorough and strict and strictly business. The company doesn't tolerate immature behavior and isn't going to be a baby sitter for any driver that's should already be an adult. Good policies seems to me. Probably be associating with drivers that don't sit around and wail constantly.

National Carriers...The Beginning of a New Journey (Part 2)

The pay is .40/mile in 6 mos. .41/mile then 2yrs. .42. there are weeks you'll have more than 2000 but they're few of those. Although they are an OK company overall they don't have a large freight base. The meat and potatoes of national comes from the beef loads that u have to share with the lease drivers and elements produce. They are a business at the end of the day the loads with good miles that make the company driver money they give them to lease guys bcuz majority of them are paid by percent. The multiple stop beef loads the lease guys love they give them to the company drivers. And yes the vets the same. They may throw them a bone every now. And again.

National Carriers...The Beginning of a New Journey (Part 2)

National Carriers seems to be a good company for an OTR truck driver who either wants or needs to be home more often, or an OTR truck driver who is satisfied driving only 1900 to 2000 miles a week.

From the looks and sound of things, National Carriers does not seem to be geared for an OTR driver who wishes for and is willing to drive in the upper 2000 plus mile range, possibly going over 3000 miles a week, while willing to be away from home for extended periods of time.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

- Do not go to national carriers. They are all liers tell you that you can make money with them. I was there shirt time and had 3 negative paydays.. Kim told me I was making money and I never saw more than 800.00. She said I was getting a check of 1400.00 fri I saw settlement of 00.00 3rd time in a row ...lies lies lies stay away from Nci complete

- the op is right about nci. they are liars. they mess up each and every load. in the time i have been here. i rarely see a load that is planned right. they will make it look like its right. upon check-in you find out the load is way late being picked up. many of the the customers are angry with them over late loads. and the driver takes the heat for it.
so what's the pay really like for drivers at nci? the pay works out to bounce between $$7.90 and $9.30 an hour. the weekly average is $630 to $644. I just checked prior to posting. it sucks majorly. the only people that get a good pay package out of the whole company. are the people that work in liberal. every one else gets shafted hard. I can't say much about the insurance. as i can't afford it. I have heard where people are making money on the lease purchase program. but that is hear say. no one has came across with the proof. as a fleet driver/ employee. I have seen a few $0.00 weeks. and then i have seen weeks where the were $1150.00. so based on my income. I am able to project the annual income for drivers at nci. $27,500 to $33,340 annually. that really sucks. the job works out to be nothing more then brand new truck. and yes they due put the driver through an unspeakable amount of crap. many don't even realize what they are doing to them. for those of that figure it all out. well they like retaliating against us. they are a dirty company to work for. one thing i have come to learn. that would be the difference between voluntarily going to elogs. and being forced on them by the feds. and yes nci was forced on to elogs. if they didn't have them. drivers here would be treated far worse then you can imagine. so the other thing I have learned. is nci doesn't give a dang for the drivers. not in the least bit. they will act like they do. and make people think they do. that's just for show. behind the scenes it is completely different. walking on the drivers. is something they seem to enjoy. that I think i am the only one who notices that. so if you are reading this post and considering nci. so good advice: RUN!!!! don't walk!!!! RUN from them!!!! they are damaging if not piosoness to a drivers career.

I drive for National. Don't worry about them watching. Don't lie to them, do your job, maintain your equipment and they'll leave you alone to do your job. If you have a legitimate problem they want to hear about it. I have been here since February and have had great success.

Guys and Gals,
I have said it once and I will probably say it many more times, there are good companies and bad companies. I have been impressed with this company for a long time.

All we want as drivers are nice equipment, to work with and for nice people who actually give a crap about their people, the miles needed to pay our bills and support our families.

Too many have come on here expecting a country club lifestyle and executive type job with all kinds of perks and that is not what this industry is about.

I believe as I always have and always will, that as long as you keep a good attitude, go to work and work hard no matter what and respect your employer and the people you work for as well as the motoring public, you will be fine.

Someone said National monitors social media and they should. This gives them an opportunity to derail someone talking crap and sending negatives about this company. I would do it too if I owned the company.

I am not a recruiter and have nothing against anyone who is. I just speak from a point of what I feel. I have had some challenges getting back into this industry and I did nothing wrong to warrant having difficulties. I left a company that was sub standard in everything they did. I left because my wife was very ill. I told safety I was going to leave and they did not believe me.

My DAC is clean and my background is solid. I have talked to several companies that want to hire me because I have a good CVSA record, am a very safe driver, have zero issues but they all seem to be making a big deal about my being off a truck for a year and a half. They mostly said, well something bad must have happened. Yes it did, my wife got sick.

I am looking at National as my new employer. Unfortunately at 0415 am, I cant do much until they open for the day.

2000 miles/week is easily doable. More so if you go OTR instead of regional. With you being in Mississippi and not wanting to run much, Florida dedicated would probably be right up your alley.
