You can tell them and have breakdown tell them that the truck needs maintenance but they will not seem to have you come in to fix your truck. They will send you all over the country in a dangerous truck and if anything happens they blame you and act like they never heard anything about it. Be careful when joining this company because if anything happens you better hope you die with it because they will ruin you and make it your fault. They tell you that you'll make 34 CPM but pay you 20 CPM.

Pros

Nothing but Driver Leader is cool to your face .........

Cons

Everything, nothing they tell you is true.

You can make good money if this company Dispatchers and Plsnners like you. If you Live in the city of the companies hubs, you will be used as a fill-in or a left over. They seem to fill all of the runs with drivers from the cities that they live and get them home, which is good and making home time good for drivers, but making it bad for me because that means I get left overs and sometimes nothing just because I live in the hub city. Equipment Maintenance is very poor. Head of Maintenance in Salt Lake has no Truck/Trailer/Shop experience at all. He doesn’t understand how to run a shop, he can’t help with repairs since he doesn’t have any mechanical experience, and then routine maintenance is almost non-existent. I’ve had my tractor in the shop four times for an air leak, one I got a ticket for, and it’s never been repaired. Needed snow chains and the Shop Maintenance Foreman told me to just go buy some. I asked where and how and he just told me to try the Truck Stops. Safety is not an issue here either. They seem to get excited about it, but their CSA Scores and safety record don’t show it. Communication is almost non- existent here either. That is unless you are at a hub and in the face of the person you need to talk too. I put in a call and left a message on voice mail then sent a message on our tractors computer system and waited four days before I gave up on the return call. I am scared what will happen when I have a break down and really need someone. Home time and time off has been the only positive thing I’ve seen here. That’s probably because I live less than five miles from the hub or local division.

Pros

Home Time/Time Off, Wages(if you get miles), Locations, Dedicated Routes and some of the drivers.

Cons

Lack of Safety, Lack of Communication, Reward System, Companies Attitude toward issues.

This was the worst trucking company I ever drove for in 28 years of driving absolutely no miles with this company the people in the shop are a big joke also the people in the office anytime you want to get ahold of somebody they're never around when you get a run they give you a 250 mile or 300 mile run and they give you two days to do it I was lucky if I got 1800 miles a week I would never suggest anybody to drive for this company unless you're lazy and you don't like to make good money then this is the place for you

Just started at Navajo Express and didn't really see anything recent on them so thought I would share. Starting pay is .30-.32 per mile unless you have 5 years experience. New as of June 1, 2015 pay for all new hires without five years experience will be mandatory guarenteed pay per day program. First 90 days you get $110 a day 3-9 months $115 then 9-12 months $120 per day. This is regardless miles run, no matter what if you are available to work you get paid the rate nothing more nothing less. After year you start at .35 per mile. That's how they are trying to sell it as a pos. doesn't really work for me in my calculations but for others might be great. Orientation is 2 days, basic stuff, a lot of things that shouldn't have taken a lot of time took too much time, or HOS, FMCSA regs eft...

The company does provide transportation to terminal from home for orientation on form of bus ticket or reimbursing you for fuel. Also get put up in a hotel, nothing fancy just a room, but it's free and trans to and from terminal every day. Don't think you are going to leave orientation on second day and hit the road, they won't issue your truck until next day so you can get at least 10 hr break. I have to fly to Denver from TN to get my tractor as there are only day cans and coffin sleepers at this terminal. Orientation is a video conference with Denver office. Could probably condenced it into one day but some aren't as knowledgable as others and it goes at the pace of the slowest learner.

That's all i can think of now if any questions ask I will try and answer. I will try and update as I go. Just a FYI seems like there is currently a huge change in management, as a lot of upper level managers I was introduced to had only been here a couple weeks or a month or so. Will be interesting to talk to other drivers and see what changes are taking place and their opinion(taken with a bag of salt obviously).

They all promise the same miles but none so far has delivered. Arnold is going to give me 2100-2300 weekly as they say and Navajo says you must hit 11,500 monthly to get any bonus.

When you're with a trainer, that truck operates as a solo truck. And you get most of the seat time for sure. Probably 85% I'd say, they make #### sure you know what you're doing. Real good trainers here. There's a guy by the name, ####, who's been with navajo 15 plus years and he is a hell of a trainer, I'd highly recommend him, real good dude too.

As for taking your truck home once you get one they'll get you as close to the house as they can, most likely gonna be a kenworth dealer. As for me, I'm out of amarillo tx so when I take home time I'll use the central freightlines terminal, (I guess we have a good relationship with them or something idk). But it all depends but they'll definitely get you within at least 20 miles of your house. But they don't let you physically park the rig in your driveway.
