Very poor support. Staff is apt to make excuses for why they don't answer phones or take hours to resolve. Home time load is opposite direction of home.

Pros

Has promise but will staff adjust to understand their job is reliant upon driver success?

Cons

Staff is self obsorbed with their desires and view. Many excuses for their failure to provide needed support and live up to their promise.

consistent runs, management is friendly and so willing to help you anyway they can. Dispatch always making sure you have loads. The trucks are 4 years old or newer. Cant really say anything bad about this company. Good place to start out at. Really enjoy working here.

a little unorganized at times but thats anywhere

Terrible dispatch. Mostly live loads and unload. only answer phone during daytime. Terrible driver leaders . lie about long mileage runs.

Pros

For new drivers out of school for experience. Not recommended for experience drivers

Cons

Very few drop and hooks

The company lies to you saying there is a lot of trucks. When u get there there is nothing but junk with a 499 week payment without a warranty. If you don’t take what they give. One way trip to bus station. With u paying to get home. They don’t care about you. Avoid this company. Not worth it.

Pros

None

Cons

Lies and don’t care about you

You do not want to work for this company. dispatchers do not have the ability to adapt to any problems that my arise with PTL's sub par equipment. Started in September of 2014..In November I got a call form operations about what a great job I did running 10900 miles in the month of October...Big deal! that should be the norm! but everything fell apart in December. For example, I was running a load from Indy to TX...right around Big Cabin...the weld that holds the mud flaps on the tandems broke, which put the bracket into the tires...I couldn't break the second weld..and had to call road service to get the bracket off to re-weld on to the tandems. To make a long story short my appointment time got knocked back 4 days. After the repair, instead of letting me drop the trailer and keep rolling they left me sit for 4 days.. I made a $64.00 check that week. Had to fight for breakdown pay which is only $35 a day after 48hrs...never saw any dentition pay ever. Tons of horror stories from other drivers. Just ask them. I talked to O/O lease purchase drivers that had consecutive negative checks for weeks...talked to one guy that had been waiting for his truck for 28 days. The list goes on and on.

PTL has become a full blown training company and is exploiting students to run teams, paying students $0.15/ml...so they are paying a team truck less than your average solo driver to run 24/7...and have way more drivers than freight. I know this is common practice now with most all of your Mega-carriers...But ####! Your lucky to make a decent check every 3rd week. Total thumbs down!

Orientation is a joke, supposed to be one and half days. You get half your orientation pay on the third day. They set you up in a run down motel that you have to check out daily, store your belongings in a conference room while you sit at the terminal waiting to get a truck. They have more driver than they have trucks. New trainee drivers are given brand new trucks before the drivers with experience. I have been sitting here for 5 days and they only pay $150 for orientation half on day three and the other half after your first dispatch. You will get paid $35 a day starting on day three for everyday you sit waiting on a truck, some driver have sit for 7 and 8 days. Sign on bonus is given after 2500 miles ran and you get $250 then $250 at 30000 miles and $500 at 60000 miles driven. The recruiters do not say anything about the wait or the pay. The place is ran backwords and if you can live off of $35 day and want to lug your belongings in and out your motel room everyday, this is the job for you.

PTL really dont care about drivers. They only want desperate drivers that just need to get a foot in the door, and will wait around for them, reguardless if they have personal time frames in their lives. You sit around for days after the formal paperwork is fill out just to go retreive a truck that someone else abandoned. And I guess thats ok if you really need a job, but dont even think they'll go the extra mile for you cause they wont. Dont leave your truck unlock cause ppl steal at that outfit!

Paschall headed, help me!

All i can say is WATCH OUT FOR THE FUEL RATIO PERCENTILE...i was there for 6 weeks and got fired for being at 33%...They tell you where to fuel, which I have no problem with BUT there are cases where i would use common sense and manage the fuel, for instance they say go to stop 1 and fuel 100 gallons then go to stop 2 and fill up...now if stop 1 is 100 miles from where i currently am and I am full...it is going to be about 3/4 full...if i run the extra 300 miles it will be right around the 1/2 mark...

So does it not make sens to wait until you get to the 2nd fuelstop and just fill it? The price average is going to be almost exactly the same because you would be about the 1/2 full mark anyways...

For some reason they cannot understand common sense time managment and simple math

Other than that it is a semi decent company to work for...terminals are shabby, wireless kinda sucks, but i did make pretty good money/miles in 6 weeks time..PLUS i was allowed my dog on board which was very important...

I had decided to give PTL a try due to their HQ being only 30 miles from my home. This was the BIGGEST mistake I ever made. I am currently in a hotel room in Albert Lea, MN with the truck in the shop. It has a busted inner wheel seal; needs a new spindle; and the steering box is about to lock up at anytime. When I called them to inform them of the truck's condition; they tried to get me and my pregnant GF a bus ride home; but said I didnt have enough money available ($150) for a weekend stay at a roach motel aka Knights Inn. How can I have money available for a $450 bus fare but NOT a 3 day stay in a hotel?! The truck should be out of the shop today; and im bob-tailing home and kicking John Hayman straight in the balls! Do NOT go with this company... they truly dont care about their drivers. If you're a rookie, I see they like to take advantage of the drivers that dont know anything about how a company should treat their drivers. If you still go with this company after reading ALL the web has to say; you're an idiot, and deserve whatever hell they give you! I have NEVER bashed a company I worked for; but this weekend was over the top for me. My purpose isnt to continue the bashing of a bad company; but to confirm, help, and educate all drivers that ALL the reports about this company are true. May God have mercy on you if you choose to work for them.

My husband drove for ptl two times. The first time they put him in an old run down truck Then he went back again I know what you're thinking AGAINThe second time they gave him a new truck and it looked reallygreat sitting in the lot in murray ky. He sat there for three daysWithout a load. So he left again I have never heard any thinggood about this company

PTL is where I started out. To me, they're a typical big company. I did like how they put your name in the company newsletter for performance, nothing speaks better for you than showing your numbers to the rest of the herd. However, I did quit them 3 times in the 1yr & 1/2 I was there! Layovers, hard getting home time after 4-6 weeks out, appts that were completely bogus, and other little things. It served as a great learning experience for me, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Then there's some ppl that have no complaints, so I suppose everyone's take and experiences are different.

Well things were great with ptl rollin but what happened today probably has me turning truck in tomorrow. My home burned down today and I got the call from fire dept and I was 42 miles away. I called my dispatch and out of way left centerfield she called me a liar and said I was close to home on a load and just wanting to go home! Wtf??? It stunned me but I had her call our local fire dept and verify which still made me upset like why the heck would I make that up! Well she said just keep rolling for a little bit and I will swap you so I did what was asked even though I was minutes from home and I finally stopped after 200 miles and no swap and said umm o.k I'm not going any farther hey remember my darn home caught on fire and I kept checking in all day so you either swap me in morning or I'm turning truck in somewhere close and going home to pick up what is left of my home and moving into storage. She came back with a run the load another 200 miles and we get u home late tomorrow night! I was stunned guys I was right off interstate from my home. Well I said no I'm staying here bout 250 miles from home so I can make it tomorrow by way of swap or turning truck in and getting ride home. I will have there answer in morning. It is pathetic to be a called a liar over something so serious and to have someone be so incredibly unexpectedly rude and cruel shocked me today guys, I'm at a loss for this behavior it was totally unexpected???
