I get home every weekend at varied times. Usually home 34-48 hours. I haul aluminum coils and plate and sometimes scrap/raw aluminum for a contract customer and random flatbed freight for backhaul but often deadhead. Some loading is done at the plant and secured by the driver but I often drop and hook. Preloads are loaded by drivers that work the dock. They know what they're doing and do it well. Trailers are conastoga so no tarping. I run mostly east of bit including Kansas/Texas/Oklahoma but sometimes go to Utah and Wyoming. I also run Canada ($250 one time border crossing payment to driver). The trucks are set for 65 but go 64. The equipment is only and out dated. Tires are almost entirely recaps and often blow. I've blown 3 this week. The trucks break down a lot. They have outside and driver facing cameras and they're very sensitive. The sleeper is smaller than most otr tractors. They have APUs. Thermo Kings. Other than deadhead we're almost always running heavy. 77000-80000. I average over 3000 miles a week. I've had 4050 miles weeks and made it home for the weekend. Usually leave Sunday and back home Friday or leave Monday and get home Saturday. I do run harder than most of our 55-60 drivers. All trucks are exactly the same. Age and spec. Similar milage. Trailers are good. All aluminum. For the most part staff is really good. Above average with all but the backhaul booking being in house at my location. Backhauls are usually booked and ready with info to the driver before you deliver and sometimes before you even know your next customer load. The frequency of break downs and outdated safety policies, bonus policies, outdated tractors is almost to much to deal with. My gross pay per week is often over $2000 with gross weekly earnings as high as $2750.

One of worst companies out there to work for ,plan on being lied to from hire until leaving . Good luck getting your last check without fighting for it and being delayed . The only truth you'll get from the Columbus Ohio team is "we are flying by the seat of our pants " and they are . Equipment is junk as well as delivery locations ...go elsewhere.

Pros

There are no pros here

Cons

Too many to list ,trucks ,non-existent honesty, managers, schedule ,pay ,and co.munication for starters.

Midland TX. Most prejudice company you can ever work for. Mgr have never driven truck and focus on the wrong things. Pay is adequate. Equipment is junk. Stay away from them

Pros

Good pay and jackets. Nothing else

Cons

Anything else associated with trucking

Started with high hopes based on information provided when they took over the account I worked for. Everything the told us has been a lie. Promised new equipment, received used trucks from rental fleet. Promised organizing and making routes more efficient, routes are worse than ever with stops on them that cant be delivered which means no pay for them.Preach safety day and night yet don't care about loads being unsafe and loaded improperly, and if you refuse to take a load that's unsafe they write you up and suspend you. promised 3% pay increase per year, no pay increase and a total change of pay plan! And that's just the beginning....

Pros

NONE. Lies from upper management to location management.

Cons

Terrible equipment and maintenance. Want time off, good luck being able to schedule it, and if scheduled they can cancel it! Be ready to spend 14 hours a day, every day in the truck.

Leasing from Penske?

Penske is NO, NO. For 1 month rent of a sleeper truck, they want $4117 + $0.18 per mile. If I run 10k miles the bill will be to $5917. I will survive, but they will be making more money than my self.

Leasing from Penske?

Leasing is way cheaper than renting, almost 50% less. I have one tractor and two straight trucks leased through Penske. I was worried about the cost, but now I'm not sure if I'll buy another truck.

On one hand it sucks because you always have a truck payment, but that's about the only negative I can think of. They take care of the taxes, IFTA, tags, free washes, they call or email me when they are due for PM's which are free. I don't pay for anything other than fuel. The tractor had Continental tire's, with about 10,000 miles they started causing a vibration, no questions asked they put a brand new full set of michelins on it. And then you get the 24 hour roadside for breakdowns, also free. Peace of mind is very nice.
