After reading some the true horror stories on this board.. I don't feel so bad now about treatment from TLD.. First, Everybody at TLD is polite and professional, and my concerns are strictly regarding pay and scheduling.. and secondly, I worked for them as a casual, so they may treat their "regulars" differently... but before you work for them you should know, they have two main focuses.. auto suppliers, and a food service account.. It's the food service side you need to avoid (unless you like working for FREE!).. TLD will load multiple stops on the trailer, usually close together, but scheduled to be delivered 8 hours apart! and because some are Walmarts DC, and other food DC's, expect to be at each stop for 2-3 hours. TLD's food service business is dispatched 60 miles from their terminal. So a typical day is hook an empty on the yard, swap it for a load 60 miles away, drive 500 miles for a 2-3 hour delivery, then wait 6-7 hours to deliver the second stop on the trailer, usually at Walmart, so another 2-3 hour wait.. So to do it log book legally, you have 2 full days into your 550 mile run..at .34 cents per mile.. Congratulations, you made $187 for your 2 long days work or about minimum wage... so do your homework, but you'd be better off working FOR Walmart rather than delivering for TLD to Walmart's and other food service DC's.. Happy Trucking!

Yes, they do a lot of broker loads and most everyone is polite. They hire drivers that have not driven recently and put them with a trainer for 2 to 6 weeks at $400/wk. Pay starts at .35/mile, insurance after 60 days, BCBS for single is about $48/wk. Trucks are set at 65mph but a speeding ticket will get you dropped to 60. Most trucks are 10 speeds but new drivers might get a POS auto. Trucks have audible warning for following too close that will kick cruise control off going under an overpass. Orientation is one day paid at $100, no motel. Shop guys do a good job IMO.

I had been off the road for 7 years but with over 1 million accident free. My "trainer" was two years old when I started driving but we got along fine, was a good guy. This was the first truck I've driven in 21 years that would not do the speed limit and combined with push button log book I can say I witnessed some of the most unsafe situations in all my truckin. Hats off to you drivers that do it safe.

Most of the trucks I operated would run left lane strong and gave me as a pro the choice to get away from those that were bunched up , I could slow down or speed up when it was safe.

I don't have anything bad to say about TLD but don't go there thinking cause they're owned by Toyota its auto parts. I hauled JIT automotive for 5 years and was ready to turn n burn but what I saw was a lot of CH Robinson. If I wanted to haul broker Id buy my own truck. Good luck n God Bless B safe.

Been @ TLD for about 6 months now. I am very happy here. I have since trained my wife and am running team for them. Busting 7,000 miles this week. New KW T660s all 10 speeds. New Peterbilts are automatic. A few older trucks, but all are well kept. People are great, very down to earth. They do have an issue with their CSA score, thanks to the owner operators. So we've been getting nailed for inspections at the scale houses. Just do your pre trip and your good.

TLD hires student drivers and doesn't discriminate on age. They are committed to getting drivers home on weekends, but the "weekend" may be Thursday PM to Saturday AM. 33 cents per mile to start, and probably average 2,000 to 2,500 miles at first. Knoxville is the home terminal and works mainly with a national bakery chain and Toyota auto parts suppliers. There are other terminals around the southeast.
