Office oriented company, the drivers are the only ones held accountable, pay is never right, the insurance is a joke, they don't take care of equipment, it has the potential to be great, but the arrogant leadership thinks truckers don't matter that's why they lost 14 in a week, may the force not be with you

This company went far out of its way to help me on having to spend time at home. They expressed patience and concern at a level I don't believe any other company would. They also stayed on top of things for me like physicals, training, and maintenance schedules.

Pros

Very caring, courteous, and professional company

Cons

Communication among driver manager shifts needs to greatly improve

I was with this company for 8 years. 8 years of not accidents, tickets or dot violations. They decide to tell me 5 weeks in advance I would be getting laid off. Understandable but the best part is that they withheld my entire last paycheck making me pay back PTO. They let you use it lay you off and then steal your last pay check. Great place to work!

Pros

They tell you all the right lies to make you happy.

Cons

Greedy company who will always find a way to steal the money you've worked for. They will lay you off with barely a warning no matter how long you've been there. Seniority is not in their vocabulary. Truly has to be the worst company out there.

Started 01/20/2020. Found out stop pay is $10 and detention is $10/hr after 2 hours. 1st flag was truck not ready and had to wait for it after orientation and it was still dirty. 2nd flag was wrong trailer number given for 1st load causing 2 hours of lost time searching and making load late. 3rd flag no load preplanned after most loads. 4th flag cancelled loads for lack of drivetime which dispatch was incorrect about. 5th flag giving available loads to other drivers while you're sitting at the shipper with the bills in hand with hours to run and delivery was the same day. 6th flag zip to zip mileage pay. 7th flag being given hourly drivers mileage as a cpm driver doing regional, mileage supposed to be 300-500/day but get 100-150/day average. 8th flag peoplenet always shutting down. 9th flag engine idle temp set isn't working properly, set at 30° but there are times outside is colder and engine cold temp is 10° off, going to get frozen like this. I recommend looking elsewhere at this time. I will update again if I choose to leave the company because the retention Mgr Todd can't get things turned around. Told me they could get me the miles but by end of week still 100-200 miles per day, something the hourly guys should be doing not regional. I'm done as of 01/31/2020. Last check no pay for return of truck to terminal as agreed with truck in as new/detailed condition. Not all stop pay or detention pay received. Guaranteed pay is only for certain routes.

Pros

Newer equipment

I worked for Venture Logistics a little over 6 months. Started as a floater. I kept getting the run around by management, until I threatened to quit and go to another company. Everything went great then I had an accident with the truck I was driving. It was wet rainy conditions and the trucks brakes weren’t the greatest. I even told them about it before hand they couldn’t find anything wrong. They let me go! The equipment sucks, management is stuck up their own behinds they don’t care about their drivers at least at the Lafayette Terminal. Dispatchers think they know it all but very few can and have driven a semi truck.

Pros

Home time is good. Home every night. Pay is ok

Cons

Very poor management, too many favorites. They tell you one thing then do another.

NO MILES!! You will be told you can make them but the best I did in 2 months was 2200 and tha was a stretch... I was a Spartanburg, SC driver I quit 2 days ago.. For one I was tired of having to call payroll about the things missing on my check the nail in the coffin was waiting for my direct deposit this Friday and it never coming in only to be told oh we switched to a new payroll system we sent you a check by mail Thursday.....

They are nice folks besides a few in Indy but NICE don't pay the bills messing with my money without informing me is a no no

Company is really from what I can tell for retired drivers I worked my 14 out just about everyday in traffic the amount of pay isn't worth it....be warned no good

What days you work and what you'll be paid are going to depend on what you run. Like my other post shows pay is on a sliding scale. When I first started I ran as much as possible and still was home every weekend. That weekend might have been Friday-Saturday or even Saturday - Sunday but that's trucking. If you want to know what your gonna make and run day after day then tell them you want a dedicated route and if ones open you'll most likely be put on it.

But I'll tell you if your looking for someone to hold your hand and wipe your butt then don't come here. To me one of the best things about it here is if your doing your job and not screwing around no one will bother you. If you need to be told what to do all the time, where to fuel, what roads to take, etc then keep looking. Not trying to be rude because I welcome anyone that wants to work here. Just over the crying.

I wanted to share for any one interested what information I have gathered so far about Venture. Venture is a smaller dry van company based out of Indianapolis, IN. They have 400 trucks as of now but are growing and hope to be at 500 by October. They have terminals in Indianapolis-IN, Lafayette-IN, Chicago-IL, Laredo-TX, Duncan-SC, Edison-NJ, and Los Angles-CA.

The orientation process is a day and a half filling out paperwork and meeting department supervisors. If you have experience then they give you a truck and a load and you get to it (as I've seen, maybe less experience you have more to do). New hires will do the same day and half orientation but then will spend the rest of the week doing 300 dock bumps. You'll be givin a tractor and a trailer and you'll do these at your own pace at the terminal. Do not skip the harder ones. Now's the time to take your time and learn the mechanics. Is it fun....not really but the first time you get out with your trainer you'll be glad you did them.

After those are complete and your left knee is screaming at you :biggrin_2559: you will go out with a local driver. The time spent with them will vary on your skills and what you have been hired on for. After that if your going regional or long-haul you will go out with a regional/long-haul driver for 3 weeks (maybe less). Lastly you will do a driving test with a FM and if they feel your good then let the good times roll.

At this point this is about all the info I can think of off hand. I can say the overall vibe here is great. Drivers are always helping out other drivers and I guarantee you that you will not meet a nicer owner.
