Cargo is a decent company. They used to be a much better company. The trailers are nice and so are the trucks. I would never work for them again because I don't want a camera staring at me. You will be home every weekend and then return you will run mainly Northeast. That's to be expected of any company that get you home every weekend. It's a hit and miss with dispatchers. You can get a great one or you could get one not so great. Mine was not so great. The pay is $0.46 a mile at this time. One of the worst things about this company is you have to bring your truck to the terminal when you go on vacation. I lived a hundred 120 miles away from the terminal so this was a huge inconvenience for me and my family.

Pros

Very nice trailers and trucks Decent pay package Excellent training program

Cons

Driver facing camera Lots of Northeast Parking at the terminal when you're on vacation

Good company to work for. I’m home every single weekend and sometimes once a week for a 10. Lots of times it’s a full weekend at home, and not just a 34 or 48. I drive a late model truck with free XM, a fridge, a 1500 watt inverter, and directv. 98% of the trailers are in good shape. Lots of drop & hooks to keep you rolling. Dispatchers are friendly and easy to talk to, and aren’t hidden behind a thick pane of glass. Cons are listed below. They’re not perfect, but they’re far from terrible. They’re a good choice for anyone living in NC.

Pros

Top notch equipment, trucks are nicely furnished, trailers are in great shape, 60-70% drop & hook, good hometime, safety oriented, plenty of freight, most office people are very nice.

Cons

Driver facing cameras, Lane departure warning, lots of east coast, shorter length of haul, most backhauls to NC are live loads.

Cargo Transporters

Heard nothing but good things about em. Very picky about whom they hire too. They mostly run east of the Mississippi.

Alright, no problem.
They train you for 8 weeks if you are a new driver. During those 8 weeks you are getting paid 17 CPM for all dispatched miles. After you get in your own truck you will get paid 38 CPM with a 1 cent raise every 6 months up to 41 CPM. The miles are practical miles.
The trucks are FL Cascadias with Smartshift, EPUs, and an array of things to make your job easier like air slide tandems and in cab document scanning.
The one thing that a lot of people don't seem to like is the event recorder. There is a camera watching the road and the drivers seat that records when you brake hard or make a sharp turn or swerve. The company doesn't see it unless you did something illegal or was not safe.
They hire both recent CDL graduates and experienced drivers.
They haul dry vans and the hiring area is as follows:
Florida
Georgia
Maryland
North Carolina
Ohio
South Carolina
Virginia
West Virginia.
