So drove for this company the equiptment was unsafe they don't care whether you kill someone or not or kill yourself management is more worried about what they spent in detailing a truck than getting the truck fixed yeah you have to detail a truck before you give a dirty truck to another driver mechanic's are worthless takes truck and never works on them

Pros

This company is fantastic, I love em! I started out as a temp to hire and was hired on after 3 months. Less than a month later, I ended up in the emergency room and discovered I had an aggressive form of cancer that required me to be out of work for at least 3 months with an additional 3 months of part time or light duty. This company could have easily let me go, as Arizona is a Right to Work state and I had to be out of work without FMLA (you have to be with the company a year before FMLA can be used.) They stuck with me through everything, encouraging me and and kept in touch with me and my family. We even got a Get Well Soon card from the Tennessee office that everyone signed. After my chemo was done, they welcomed me back with open arms and even worked with me on my schedule while I did my radiation therapy. This company really cares about their employees and I can't thank them enough!

Pros

Steady work, will give you assignments if you ask for them, cares about their employees

Cons

Not a darn thing!

I work out of the Bluffton Indiana location And I have been here for only 3 months. I've been ready to quit for about a month now! It sounds great in the beginning before you see how it really is.. the guaranteed pay is not bad its $1200 a week for local. I claim 8 on my taxes and by the time they take all that out I get around $950 a week which is not that good for the amount of hours i work and i do out of town runs where im only home 2 times during the week (if lucky) and my days off. you can never make more but its super easy to make way less!! if you are a road driver they pay a whopping 40 cents I would probly make $350 if I were to take the road pay ..even though I go out of state, I'm better off keeping the guaranteed. The only reason I haven't left right now is because the holidays. After new years I am gone and so are a lot of other drivers.. Their meaning of holiday pay is; you get paid to work like any normal working day lol! never heard anything like that in all my years of work dispatchers, office people don't care about you or your family or how much time you are able to spend with them (holiday or not) .. They get to be home everyday and every holiday, must be nice for them..Wouldn't want them to disappoint their family or their kids crying because daddy isn't home for their birthday/holiday.. It's a shame they treat the people that work the hardest the worst. This is why they are constantly hiring this is why their ads all over the Internet get better and better every month..This is the truth..

Pros

I got a blanket and a camping chair for driver appreciation day lol! I actually got the lousy $2500 bonus they give you (I Can't believe i was able to stick it out here long enough) that's the most I've ever made here

Cons

LOW PAY, No holiday pay, Road work only pays 40CPM, Dispatchers don't know areas well so you can literally be on one side of a state and drive another 200 miles to the other side of the state and all over SMH! They need dispatchers that know the areas they're sending drivers too, its a huge mess! They tell you It's not a force dispatch but if you ask what else they have available they have major attitude. At the Bluffton Indiana location most of the people in the office are related that's why

They flat out lied about what I’d be doing and how much I’d be making. Raises may as well be nonexistent. Manager flat out ignores you. 40 hour vacation after a full year.

too much favortisim. some drivers make good money while others are suffering bEcause the dispatcher is taking care of his buddies and if he dont like you then you dont make much money. New trucks are trashed. Everything they post for their job is a lie no bonuses, no incentives to stay. I had to quit and find a new job I couldnt pay my bills. DONT GO TO PETERSBURG VA

First Fleet (Fountian colorado)

First Fleet (Fountian colorado)

That was my experience for the 3 months I worked there. They hired about 40 or so of us at one time, from a company that went bankrupt, and within 3 months only 1 of us was still there. None were fired.

From my experience, favoritism was rampant. I'm pretty laid back and don't sweat the small stuff, but that place really got to me. I was in several terminals from the East Coast to the West Coast and drivers I talked to at each one had the same opinion. I personally overheard some phone calls I wasn't supposed to hear, and know drivers were being told to stay home because of no work, when in fact loads were being held back for buddies that were still on the road, which I had heard phone conversations about that also. This was at night & the dispatchers did not know I was in the building. Instead of complaining, I quietly quit and moved on.

Took a load of candy to Phoenix and was told to leave the load there & head to California. The night dispatcher in Phoenix threw a fit and accused me of trying to pawn work off on him and ordered me to make the several stops in AZ anyway. I didn't argue, and made the stops and at each stop they complained they didn't want the stuff for another month. The last stop, the store was still being refurbished and not even open for business. Called Phoenix, they sheepishly said bring that stop back to the terminal. They tried to blame me for making the deliveries when I was supposed to drop the load there & wouldn't admit they screwed up. When that run was over I walked away and never looked back. That kind of stuff went on all the time. Constant headache!

I had a good job at First Fleet. 1800 miles per week doing northeast regional. Easy work. 350-400 miles per day average. $1250 guaranteed salary a week working Georgia Pacific dedicated out of Quakertown ,PA. Home 2-3 nights a week. All day Saturday and Sunday off. Sometimes a paid day off during the week. Brand new 2015 truck my first day. I was there almost two years and planned on staying longer. I felt they treated me well. They send you a birthday card and $50 worth if gift cards at Christmas. How many other companies do that? Unfortunately we had a lot of drivers quit and were never replaced. I know they hoped to expand our branch to at least 20 drivers but, for some reason we had trouble attracting drivers so we never has more than 10 or 12. Corporate decided to shut our branch down putting 5-6 drivers and two office workers out of work. Obviously a $$$ thing. They gave us a choice to stay with thee company or leave and they would give us two weeks severance pay. They only other jobs were the Elkton, VA Coors division that worked 6 days a week, 3000 miles/week to make less than what I was earning and the terminal was 350 miles from my house. The other choice was a day cab route but that was over an hour and 1/2 drive each way from me.
So I'm not happy they closed our division. It won't be easy finding a job that pays that well for the amount of work we did. But I did like First Fleet and I really wish I had made it to 2 years with them.

I Worked at FirstFleet inTolleson

AZ for 2 Years , Started at 0.34 Cpm Got my Own Truck , a 2009 Volvo
I was getting 3500 to 4000 miles a Week doing New Mexico Runs , Great Money , Great Dispatchers
WithJon Singenberger, Tim McCaffrey , Always helping Drivers, Get Runs , In 2 years there I made .036 Cpm
Still got great runs an was treated very well there .
Nov 23 ,2013 I decided to Move to Cleveland TN to be Closer to my family, in Pa. ! I was givin a Company to Company Transfer to First Fleet in Cleveland TN , I notified Terminal Manager Ryan Getts I would be Starting Dec10th which wouldgive me
Time to get settled in the new home ,but Unfortunatly when my moving company trailer didnt show up
When I expected it to , an TN DMV gave me a Hardtime ingetting my CDL Transferred Over to a TN CDL
i kept in touch with Ryan Getts about my Situation , so he told me to come in to FF HQ's to get a Quick
Orientation on Dec.6 , informed him i only had a Small amount of Clothes to wear , So hegave me3
FF shirts , a FF Hat an Rubber Ice Shoe Protectors, then he informed mei in would only make
0.34 Cpm , be put on as a Casual Driver which doesnt give you Health Coverage an ill just work on Call
Less than 2000 miles p/ week,he was very rude to me about it an Expected me to go out that same
Night , I told him I wasnt ready yet an would let him I know by 12/10 , he did not like that an
Got more cocky with me , Now at TN FF I now realized I made a Huge Mistake even coming to this
Terminal , they also Slip Seat Drivers , which to me is totally stupid , they will never get you home for the holidays
They can careless if you Struggle with getting miles i am so disgusted with FIRST FLEET IN CLEVELAND TN
They Will Never Match Up to FIRST FLEET IN TOLLESON AZ , DO NOT WORK THERE TRUST ME

As you know, each FF terminal is like its own company as it is dedicated to an individual customer warehouse. There is a different culture terminal to terminal for sure. I worked for FF for 13 years in Colorado. The job itself is what kept me there, good miles and routes. But the manager was a real jerk. He had no people skills and was a constant PITA. The district managers name was Robb Getts (a relation to your Getts I assume) and he too was good at screwing the driver over. The company offers great hometime and decent pay but has a high turnover like most trucking companies due to management. If the whole fleet was operated like Tolleson they would be great to work for. That being said, FF will probably read this and that Tolleson manager will be hung from a pole for being too nice
