I worked for Hill Bros for 6 years and at the beginning it was fine then they brought someone in for financial support and that person started to control the company. I just quit a couple days ago and I am trying to get my 401k but they don't want to give it to me, they are trying to postpone me getting my 401k. I have bills that I have to pay and I have a child that I have to take care of and make sure my child has food. This company is going down hill and doesn't care about their drivers

Was hired in January of 2019 and worked there 18 months. At least twice a month payroll made a mistake and payroll Dept head is nasty about fixing their mistakes. After 18 months, I was late getting home almost every time. Then they cut drivers pay and the rewards program. Last they brought me into the office, terminated me due to living outside of the hiring network, although I still live at the same address as I did at the time I was hired. and gave me 3 hours to get a rental car at my own expense and empty a year and a half's worth of gear & possessions and drive home 1200 miles to Georgia. Just so they could rehire drivers who would work for less. They're doing the same with management. The day before I was terminated, my dispatcher left the company without anyone knowing why. He had 18 yrs experience, and was retired from active air force duty. Don't let their smooth talking ways lure you in and leave you stranded away from home

Pros

Nice Volvo's make for a comfortable ride

Cons

They're known to short your pay and leave you stranded far from home, they also put false statements on your DAC REPORT

Hill Bros Transportation has gone down hill dramatically. Pun intended. Rest assured the dysfunction starts at the top. Maybe it's just an Omaha thing, but the majority of the operations staff are demeaning, unqualified, and ineffective. This company has serious issues cashflow wise. It's obvious when you see the condition of their trailers, and the turnover of the shop, and the majority of the tractors are in disrepair. Conversly the ownership is 2-3 generations removed from being drivers. As for miles; drivers are begging. 500-700 loaded miles spread over 2-3 days doesn't cut it. Of course the 6 company favorites get their miles. Equipment is usually dirty as HBT only pays for 1 wash every 45 days! No driver advances, no TVs, APUs don't work, terminal is an abomination, and freight stinks. 3/4th of the dispatchers are rookies.

Where do I begin? Backstory is, I've been driving for 18 years pulling flatbed, vans, reefers & log haulers. Been through a few different companies, but let me say that honestly Hill Bros is my Top Pick. Most companies have the same benefits, miles etc but these guys seem to respect their drivers more. I'm in a 2017 Volvo 780 as a company driver, I live in NC but never had a home time issue. Never get bothered or get rushed out. Great miles, great pay as I grossed a $1600 paycheck a few times here. Lots of drop/hook as well as live loads. My manager is amazing to say the least. Very personable & keeps me riding. Very caring company & I hope this is my forever company moving forward. I generally stay out 14+ days & stay home a few days, which varies by my needs.

Pros

Equipment, Miles, Respect, Hometime

Cons

Dirty dusty yard. Can't keep my truck clean

Work hauling containers of meat to Omaha. Its called Fetch runs. They changed how they do things.(been here over three years) I work 5 in a row on, work 6 if I want. $190.00 a day. 2017 Frieghtliner. I get along with the dispatchers, sometimrs they are chatty, sometimes not.

Pros

Good pay. New tractor. Time off when I want. known work schedule.

Cons

Shop..Some of the mechanics HATE the containers...so I avoid the shop as best I can

Hill Brothers

I know there's a thread or two about this company but don't feel like looking so i'll start another thread.I was impressed with this company from the beginning when the recruiter called the first time up till now. They put us up at a real nice 9 story Comfort Inn which I rate a plus 10.Every day ate somewhere different for lunch.Monday Mexican Buffet Tuesday:Jimmy Johns Wednesday:Valintinoes and today another restraurant. Can't remember the name but it was delicious.Everybody has been really nice and helpful. The 2 guys who gave the orientation will bend over backwords so help ppl out. They don't want no one to fail..A guy will be going out with a shadow trainer tomorrow. He failed his road tests.A shadow trainer is someone who spends time training only for that day and maybe longer if that's what it takes.I spoke with many drivers and not one had a bad thing to say.I'm pretty sure im going to like it here.I get my trk tomorrow a Volvo.I met my dispatcher yesterday,he looks like a young Dustin Hoffman. He laughed when I told him that. Its been a fun 4 days in orientation.
