I only been working for them a month & getting to leave soon. Everything tell at start. I found out to be a total lie. What routes you be doing. Lied. How much they pay. Lied. Hometime. Lied. Their tractors.. they me one they planning to sale in next few months. I tell, it not holding air pressure. Oh we not fixing it or putting money it. It will not be here in 6 months... and yet, they want me to drive it carrying hazmat. They don't even give you all the permits. Know 4 drivers found out hard way in lv 1 inspections. Missing permits. So i double checked mine.. missing.. i ask for it... oh, we will try and get it later... never comes. They tell you otr drivers. Hometime must park their truck in their so-called secure yard. Week 1... my stuff stolen. Tools, gps, and misc... all from a locked side box. By someone with keys to it.. 2 weeks later. Get in my truck. Someone forgot to log out.. they letting others drivers drive it with my personal stuff in it. Change all missing. The couple new tools bought, gone again.... they dont ask or tell you. Just let others use your truck. They tell you it YOUR TRUCK and they don't do that... lie. They don't have cameras in their yards. So they can't tell you who been in it stealing your things... and they sure don't cover your loses. ... it over month... still zero reimbursement money for food and gas they claim your suppose to get. I have NOT seen a single good thing about them yet. The loads I get. Pure waste of time low paying... 70hr a week worked, both weeks. And only bringing in $1,500 GROSS for 6,200 miles. This on pace to 35k yr job.... i have a million Miles flawless record... and this what I get from them. I pretty sure I made more when I first got my cdl with a different big company and just learning to drive... this place is aweful. My opinion... go anywhere, but here... i see lot of lawsuits in their future.

Pros

Sorry, have found a pro yet... trust me. I was hoping there was going to be lot of them. But I was totally wrong.

Cons

Lie after lie.. pay is aweful. Your stuff can be stolen from your truck when leave it and take hometime... and not easy to get hometime..

Been here 18 years and will be leaving tomorro..wanted to retire from heare but on my account my 4 tanks are 35-46 years old .thats pathetic..ive begged for 10years to please get decent equipment..on topp of that my trucks always broke down..33 cent an hour raise past 2 years is pretty bad as well and no time in half for hourly employess such as me while working 60-68 hours a week... definitely not gonna miss this type of treatment just some of the good ppl

Pros

Worst place ever to work at management and dispatch would make it a nightmare for the drivers and their rates are very low no money to make down there

Pros

I don’t like it at all

Cons

I would never go back again

14 years with them. Very responsible and mostly ethical petro chemical delivery company. Most managers are good, but not always. Mechanics are very good but some trucks are problematic. Garages under staffed. Rules and policies are very strict and rightly so. Do not get seriously injured, they will force you to leave if you accept a reward.

Pros

Very nice, well kept equipment. Good Pay, reasonable benefits. Lot’s of hours possible.

Cons

Forced dispatch and unreasonable dispatchers. Many unseen dangers and deadly products.

Q: KAG Kenan Advantage Group

https://www.thekag.com/employment

Greetings everyone,

@Chinatown

@Cali kid

Went to find racks and asked my local gas stations who delivers thoer fuel and i got some pretty good results.

I found that these are just some of the local gas haulers for my area, and i took an special intrest in KAG

Does anyone have a RUN down for KAG in the Detroit area,PAY scale

Please and thank you

A: Can't help you with Detroit pay, but a friend of mine works for Kenan in Mobile,AL and makes at least a grand a week. Seems like the pay would be even better in Michigan. Check with Trimac Transportation; probably make more than hauling fuel; still hauling hazmat chemicals.

A: KAG is a mega carrier, they are everywhere. Down here they are union and pay on the lower end of the spectrum. But pay depends entirely on location. It's not a bad place to start, you will get good training, and you can always move on if you find something better.

I was a former gas hauler an I worked for Kenan transport. A subsidiary of the Kenan advantage group.

I must say I did pretty decent as a o/o there.

Home every day.

Weekend work was at the driver's discretion.

I brought home 1800-2500 a week.

Long hours tho

Well I've seen the gas hauler side of them also. The difference is Kenan Advantage has better equipment. Each Company under the Kenan umbrella has a different owner! Advantage tank the owner is a tight wad and doesn't want to put anything in to the company!

Most interested in the current equipment they are using, pay and of course company atmosphere. Thanks for any information.

A: Should stay busy. KAG always has work.

Yep every KAG terminal in so cal is union. And last I heard top pay was $19 per hour. So this was a long time coming and well deserved.

Disttech, Inc. A Highway Subsidiary of KAG

KAG is a good company. Our specific terminal is excellent. Both gentlemen in charge are top notch; they take very good care of all the drivers. Very fair across the board. I've never heard complaints from other drivers. Turnover rate is the lowest I've seen. We have under twenty drivers at our specific terminal with the majority of them having been at the company for 10+ years.

- Pay is not the highest as we are a contract hauler however we are compensated for pretty much all work that we put in driving and non-driving which puts our overall pay somewhere between fair and pretty darn generous; I feel my paychecks accurately reflect my efforts.

- Equipment at our specific terminal as far as tractors is pretty much all new Macks and Petes with the exception of maybe 5 trucks. Our trailers have character so you'll have fun.

- The work can be a bit tough reason being there is less room for error however I find the challenge to be rewarding once the job is done adding to the overall job satisfaction. I'm very blessed to be working here.

KAG has bought quite a few companies over the last few years. There gas haulers her in the Fresno area make over 26.00hr. As for trailers that have lights out etc.....did you pre trip....if you did you don't leave the yard until its fixed. You cannot operate faulty equipment. I would grab spare bulbs, lights etc and keep them in your truck with a few basic tools. Refuse to operate garbage, if you get pulled in the coop its your fault.

Good luck Don't let guys get you down about KAG. It isn't always about the wage you're getting paid up front. It's hard to put a straight forward number on something when there are so many variables. Lots of add on fees to the base rate. I've hauled gas for KAG in the Midwest and now at a terminal in the South. I'm home everyday, my yearly pay is north of $70k a year and I have excellent benefits from medical to 401k match. There are other opportunities also like being able to transfer to other locations/companies under KAG throughout the country. It's an easy place to get comfortable at as long as you don't get caught up in the negativity that exists at any trucking company.

Okay, first off, I wish I could have posted each day during the 2+ week training process, but alas, I never could keep up with it. Secondly, I am sorry that some have chosen to use this thread to vent their individual frustrations regarding KAG and/or CTI.

I have completed five days of training, it began last Saturday and ran through early this morning. The best part for me is the fact that I am home every day, that was one of the deciding factors of course. The company, CTI, in Bozrah, CT haul three different industrial gases; Liquefied Oxygen, Liquefied Nitrogen and Argon. I don't know if it varies at other locations. The trainer is highly experienced with many years not only as a KAG?CTI employee, but also a tanker driver and 30 year commercial driving veteran.

I've learned the basics for pumping liquid out as well as filling the tank at the terminal. It isn't complicated, I did pick it up fairly quickly. I feel at this point that the paperwork and recording the day/load information may be the most challenging. But as with anything that is repetitive, I don't doubt that it will also come in time. Also completed at this juncture is the paperwork for employment, most of which has been done online. After I complete the training process and have been released by my trainer I will be sent to Ohio, I believe, for KAG company and safety orientation.

Have to say that I do like the company, the terminal I go to everyday, and the guys I have met thus far. I still have to adjust to a different schedule for working my shift will be 1700 to whenever +10-14 hours. But the money should proof to be worth the efforts and adjustments. I will post again next week, I am off for two days, returning to work on Saturday.

Stay safe all, thanks for reading!

KAG has O/O programs. I worked with a guy that does that now. I know a couple of others but they aren't in your neck of the woods.
