Not a bad company all in all. Need some improvement when it comes to drivers needs and the equipment. For 1 the trucks should at least be able to do the speed limit on the highway I feel its a complete hazard with maxing the speed at 65. While most of the industry has come to compliance of 70mph speed limit. Also some improvement on drivers pay would be a great improvement. Times are changing while the pay rate stays the same. After 17yrs of service. A driver is maxed out. Not gonna make any more

This pertains to our Oilfield Division in Barnesville, OH so some things may differ depending on terminal. Very laid back operation. Nice to be an actual driver and not a seat filler with a number. You get your own company rig & trailer to take home, you get 2 consecutive days off a week and home nightly. My 1st year I brought back around 86K and this last year I cleared 106K so the money is here, sometime is here, and I don't think they have a vehicle older than 2015 so we aren't driving junk. I would highly recommend this company while the Oilfield is booming.

Pros

Home daily, 2 days off consecutive, lucrative pay, get your own rig.

Cons

Oilfield has limited number of years left, dispatcher plays the favorite game at times.

pay depends on what loads you did. Dispatch is by seniority. I was road board and my take home was about 900 to 1100 a week but i had high enuf seniority that i generally had my pick of loads. I left to do my own thing being i no longer agreed with their policies. They have vorads and rollover and if it goes off they write you up. They also have dash cams and if you cross center or shoulder lines without turn signal they write you up. Logs must match quallcom no if and or buts. That what pushed me out the door.

They haul a LOT of residual waste solids off the drill rigs out here too. Seems like a good gig, the drivers I meet on the rigs seem to like what they're doing. Lots of night and rural to offroad driving, though, as well as getting stuck behind slow-moving water trucks.

First off american bulk commodities is the main company. John brown has been part of the company for years and southern haulers are the Alabama boys. Was with r&j for 8 years, left for more money hauling tanks. In Cleveland area still driving mostly 07 macks. Maint on the trucks is put a band-aid on it and run. There CSA score tells it all. Look for something better.

R&J trucking, Boardman Ohio anyone?

Worked there for 8 years as an otr driver out of boardman. I made some very good money there. Over 70k a year. But that was before they went electronic logs. R&J is the parent company. When they bought John brown and southern haulers they formed American bulk commodities. I left because I had bought a truck and went to pulling tankers. I'm actually waiting for an opening at R&J to open up and take my truck over there again. If they don't have an opening soon for an oo I'm going to go to either bones or us bulk
