If you are applying to drive here do not give up your job before trying to get on boarded. The whole week of assessments is a set up to fail. I was in a small class and only 2 passed. You have to complete all assessments each day. If you fail one you have to do all three again. They preach take your time be safe then fail you if you take more than the time alloyed you complete the task although you were safe and did not hit anything. They talk a good talk but the bottom line is it is a corporation and you are a number

Walmart is unlike any company I have ever driven for. Everything is done differently here. If you don't mind 65mph trucks and micromanagement, the hometime and pay cannot be beaten
Pros
the pay and hometime are top notch
Cons
The micromanagement and rules can be really frustrating at times

I’ve reviewed WM before. After my first full calendar year I grossed $77k. I ran most of last year on a 5/2 5/3 program and extended my work week quite often. 1500-2000 miles/wk. I work out of a GM DC. Load coordinators and support staff are agreeable and treat us with professionalism. Safety is somewhat unrealistic in what they choose to enforce. I’m not sure how to make this a job that pays $90k, without being gone 6 days and only home for 1. as they claim. I left LTL, home every other day, nearly 100k. I thought I hated nights too much and went to WM. It’s a P and D type of job, but the majority of the $ is paid in mileage. Activity pay is nice, but the $ is in the miles and at 1750ish avg miles ... ????????♂️. Groceries are multi stop and need counted, we are instructed not to do anything but count skids (worker’s comp). 3 grocery stops in north jersey or the boroughs can take an entire day and only make you about $200. I work 5 on 2 off in an assigned tractor, my average gross is about $3,000.00. If I extend and work 6 on 1 off my gross is about $3600.00, which is nearly 95k. My average day pay is $316, I’m now a 5 on 2 off and extend every other week. Equipment is decently maintained, mostly late model Freightliners. Trailers are a little old and problematic, but the shop never gives any fuss about working on them. No phones. Cameras face us, but aren’t on (supposedly). But the trucks are miked for sound soooo...
I’m disappointed with what I was told the job would be when I talked to the recruiter. The cameras will go off for hard braking, running yellow lights, too fast on curves and anything else that trips the hair trigger in the gyro. Now it’s not a terrible job for all the more they actually expect. If 75-80k, day shift, slip seat to start, they’ll let you plan your day any way you want. I turn on 10 and try to run my clock out every day. I’m slightly disgruntled, but not here to say it’s an awful job, I’m just trying to be realistic with expectations.
Pros
Elite professionalism
Uniforms
Good camaraderie
Easy parking for breaks at stores
Occasional lunches in the break room
Reliable tractors
Cons
Pay (personal issue)
Time away from home
Phone policy
Safety expectations (ice cleats, constantly followed in the yard)
My personal issue is distance, I’m 100 miles from the dc and they’ve told me to go home bec work is slow. Too far for me to drive and turn back on 10.
PTO is seniority first, then first come first served. It’s impossible to get holidays except Christmas Day, unless your day off falls on the holiday. Expect to work 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (they’ll try to rou

Micro managed every move you make. Camera's in truck. Never worked for a company that tries to find reasons for getting rid of drivers like this.
Pros
Pay and home time is good
Cons
Switch trucks and micro managed everything you do.

The safety department lacks realistic situations. They only base preventable and non preventable accidents on statistics they review from a quote, reliable site, not based off of the actual DOT, Highway Patrol accident reports. So if you lose control of your vehicle because 90 mile an hour winds come out of the blue without warning and you wreck your vehicle it's non preventable in the report, but their safety department. Because apparently they're statistics know every preventable way for accidents not to happen regardless of situations. And if you apply to this company for work they will let you know at the very last second just days before that flight out to Arkansas for orientation that you are disqualified leaving you out with no employment anymore and a disappointed heartless result to explain to your family.

Recruiters are honest and helpful
