If you enjoy sitting 15-17 hours every day, then this may be the company for you. Their planners are brain dead and indifferent to the needs of drivers to earn a living...to support a family.

Pros

Newer tractors, primarily Cascadias.

Cons

Management gripes about idle time, while drivers are kept hungry and available...driver cannot win here.

This company does not respect its drivers as professionals. They micromanage drivers to death. They do not respect your mandated rest break. They will leave you sitting without pay for up to three days. They send you nasty messages for idling too long when the temperature drops, but don’t have APU’s. There cpm is ok, but paycheck still terrible due to lack of miles.

Pros

Meh.....not much

Cons

Lack of miles. Lack of respect. Dispatchers are snot-nosed high school students without a clue.

Barr Nunn is a independently certified top pay carrier. My wife and I have worked for BarrNunn for over a year and wish we would have come over here sooner. We run team and I recommend running team at this company. I have had to run solo and was not a fan of the solo side of the company but know several drivers that have done very well running solo.

Pros

Excellent equipment, Great pay scale, amazingly quick and thorough service department and very good family environment!

Cons

When I was running solo there was a high level of switching back and forth between driving days and nights. Hard to get good sleep.

If you want decent sleep or your home time, might as well forget it. Hours can be day driving, stop and sleep and then have to drive that next night without proper rest. Its unsafe and unhealthy driving. Home time is hard to get, and they are unsympathetic to you having plans.

Pros

Pay per mile is good. Bonuses are good.

Cons

Hours are awful. Miles aren't the best.

Barr-Nunn

And 9 months later nothing is different at Barr-Nunn since the purchase by Knight. Not sure what the original One Post wonder was griping about. $55-60k regional to $73k on the higher end for OTR drivers that have been here a while. I know some of the freight is getting slow heading south. A couple of guys were not happy when they didn't make it home on a certain day like they were use to. Some people think this is Burger King. Even Burger King is getting away from the "Have it your way" philosophy.

Barr Nunn teams how is your mileage?

Barr Nunn teams how is your mileage?

Highly recommend Barr-Nunn. Your miles may not be 6,000 / week, but they are starting hazmat teams at .63 / mile for company teams. What you really (REALLY) need to understand before you go is they do not run the typical long haul cross country team freight. View their website. You are going to run the NorthEast primarily and you're "probably" going to average 500 mile runs. You're going to run hard and fast on those short runs, JIT. You WILL BE ON TIME. But, if you're a go=getter, you're going to make great money. Their equipment is meticulously maintained and you're usually pre-planned a couple of days ahead. You'll need that because you'll need to plan your shifts, etc. We had to leave for a family situation, but will be returning shortly. Bonuses are awesome. Tell them I sent you. (wink, wink) haha They are good people. Seriously though, if you don't want to work hard, do NOT go there. It can be stressful til you find your groove.

Barr- Nunn transportation Good Bad ?

I've worked for Barr-Nunn for almost 3 months. The money has been good (average gross has been 1,100-1,300 a week, and I bring home $750-950). I Work in the Virginia Regional Fleet, and am home an average of 2 1/2 days every weekend (Either fri morning-Sunday night, or Sat morning-Monday night). The cons? Pretty much ALL night runs, and a LOT of northeast (I've crossed the GW Bridge in and out of NYC 6 times in the last week. If you can handle that, you'll do well in the Virginia Regional. If you are from some other area, I have heard talk of not getting the miles (The big population is in the northeast, and that's where the freight/miles are at). Hope that helps.
