An extreme upgrade from my previous job. I am able to get ahold of dispatch 24/7, and they have always had an answer for my questions. I took a hit on my first week because the plant I deliver to cancelled all loads, but that's part of trucking I guess. Second week I killed it. Ran nearly 3,200 miles, I was still home 2 nights during the week and I wasn't even worn out. I was issued an older truck but it runs very well and was nearly spotless when I got into it. I had one problem so far where the check engine light came on, and even though the mechanics were busy they pulled it right in and had me rolling in 45 mins. I have been given benefits here that I've never even heard of companies doing. They honored my prior tanker experience, which started me out on a higher pay grade, and also got me an extra week of vacation time after a year. They're basically treating me like I've already worked there for a year and a half. Also, they pay me to take the truck home. Mind you, I live over 300 miles from the terminal. Everyone at Venezia has treated me very well so far. These are some of the nicest people I have worked for. I hope to have a long career with this company.

Pay is good. I run my butt off and do so legally. I stay out 3 weeks at a time and then take 4-5 days off. Some guys are home most weekends. The health insurance is really good (far and away better than any that I have had in the past). I’ve been here for almost 4 years and have only applied for one other company in that time (it was a local opportunity). I really can’t complain about how I am treated for the most part. Sure there are times I want to beat my head on a wall but what company isn’t going to give you that from time to time? They have their “quirks” as a company. Some things take a little getting used to, like the HHG miles that they figure their routes on. Personally, I don’t mind giving up 10% of my miles because I feel as though that I make most of it up through activity pay (loading/unloading, layover, hourly pay for getting tank flushed, etc). The pay cycle is 2 weeks out so what you do this week will be paid in two weeks. (I study my settlement sheets very carefully. I have never had a case of not getting paid for something I did). Maintenance program isn’t the greatest but they have been working pretty hard to get better with it. The things that drive me the craziest are their lack of communication and the fact that they are very reactive instead of proactive. From my experience and observations from the inside, you get out if it what you put into it. If you’re willing to work hard, have integrity and self accountability, as well as a good attitude, you can do really well here. If you’re the type who cries and complains about everything or never does anything wrong yourself...this isn’t the place for you. Hard work recognizes and respects hard work. Business is growing, so if you’re looking I highly recommend that you consider Venezia.

Pros

Great medical insurance, good pay, company appreciates hard work, business is growing

Cons

First week = no paycheck, company is reactive instead of proactive, lacking in communication

Company used to care about drivers and equipment. Hired driver manager that is now driving the good drivers left out! Pushing so hard to keep running and loading you run out of hours even off duty drive time. Don't follow laws and tell you to log off duty during unloading to save hours and keep pushing you. Never have time to get gas let alone take a shower . You live in your truck. Do not believe promises made that you will be home everyday it's all lies since they are desperate for drivers. Turn over is so high now compared to even a year ago due to. manager named "Ryan". Calling drivers on only day off now and changing assignments. If you like to run your tail off and never be home and not get paid for the hard work you do then this is now the company to work for. I used to be proud to work here, but the last year has been awful: This month alone is the worst and now looking to get out. I truly hope Frank the owner reads this review. You have drivers that care and believe in your company.... please do not allow Ryan to ruin it for you. Money is good but that doesn't matter if you do not have loyal employees...

Pros

Nothing that I can think of at this time

Cons

Management no longer cares

Q: Any info recently or any advice. 3 weeks out hauling oil up to Canada from NJ.

A: Didnt know they make you stay out 3 weeks but anyway the best part about them is the health insurance very reasonable and low deductible.you'll be pulling out of exxon-mobil in paulsboro nice place to load and right on the scale.bad part is they hold two weeks of pay so you wont get a paycheck for three weeks and the miles you run are always more then what you get paid for.any questions i probably can answer for you i use to work for them as a o/o and still have a buddy working as acompany driver.

Former venezia employee here. Ran cement, flatbeds, propane, blimps, oil, and chemicals for them. I miss the atmosphere, but the pay and benefits need some work. When you go out for a load from say Philadelphia to Pittsburgh for propane, you cannot go through the tunnels on the PA turnpike. I won't bother with the route details, but your alternate options add between 75 and 100 miles of road that is a lot more challenging during winter conditions. Now remember, they pay HHG miles. So there goes 10 percent of your actual miles, but the hazmat routing doesn't add miles. So now you are driving 100 more miles than the routing program pays you for, then they shave 10 precent off for the HHG method. They are nice people, but be warned of the payment methods.
